Preconceptional
Counseling
Preconceptional counseling is available for non-pregnant
patients who:
 | Have
a family history of a genetic disorder, disease,
or congenital abnormality. |
 |
Have experienced multiple pregnancy loss. |
 |
Have a personal history of a medical condition like
Hypertension, Diabetes, or Lupus. |
Genetic Counseling
Genetic
counseling is available to pregnant patients who:
 |
Have
a family history of an inheritable disease, syndrome,
or genetic disorder.

 |
Are
of Advanced Maternal Age (35 at time of delivery). |
 |
Were
exposed to radiation, medication, or recreational
drugs.
|
Level II/Targeted
Ultrasound Examinations
Level II
Ultrasound Examinations are generally offered to
patients who have the potential of having pregnancy
complications or at increased risk of delivering
children with birth defects.
Hospital
Consultations
In-hospital
consultations are available upon a physician's request.
Fetal
Echocardiography
Fetal
echocardiography examinations for patients exposed to
certain medications, who have a family history of
congenital heart disease, or whose baby has a suspected
cardiac defect.
Chorionic
Villus Sampling (CVS)
Early
genetic testing may be offered to those patients who qualify
following genetic counseling.

Patient has to be
between 10-13 weeks of pregnancy. |
 |
CVS is offered to
patients who are above 35 years of age or will be 35
on their due date. |
 |
Women with a family
history of genetic disorders or birth defects.
|
Amniocentesis
Genetic testing in the mid to
late second trimester may be offered to patients who qualify
following genetic counseling. Lung maturity amniocentesis is
also available for patients requiring early delivery.

Patients must be between
16-22 weeks of pregnancy. |
 |
Amniocentesis is offered
to women who are 35 years of age during pregnancy, or
who will turn 35 years of age on their due date. |
 |
Also, it is offered to
women who have a family history of Down syndrome,
genetic disorders, and/or birth defects. |
Prenatal Testing
Biophysical profile studies are
available for patients with hypertension, diabetes, poor
fetal growth, and other indications for potential fetal
complications.
